गुवाहाटीतील राष्ट्रीय ग्रापलिंग स्पर्धेत महाराष्ट्राची दमदार कामगिरी
नाशिक : 29 ते 31 मे 2026 दरम्यान गुवाहाटी (आसाम) येथे झालेल्या 19 व्या राष्ट्रीय ग्रापलिंग चॅम्पियनशिपमध्ये महाराष्ट्राच्या खेळाडूंनी 5 सुवर्ण, 8 रौप्य व 11 कांस्य अशी एकूण 24 पदके जिंकत चौथे स्थान पटकावले.
देशातील 24 राज्यांतील 567 खेळाडूंनी सहभाग घेतलेल्या या स्पर्धेत ग्रापलिंग असोसिएशन ऑफ महाराष्ट्रतर्फे 17 खेळाडूंचा संघ सहभागी झाला होता. संघाला अध्यक्षा अर्चना देशमुख व सचिव संतोष देशमुख यांचे मार्गदर्शन लाभले.
सुवर्णपदक विजेते: उमेश पाटील, मृणालिनी खेडकर (2), संस्कृती घुगे (2)
रौप्यपदक विजेते: प्रियदर्शनी पाटील, कुंजिका गुरुबा, रोनक टेलर, संकेत परदेशी, उमेश पाटील, सार्थक गायकवाड, हुंविष्क सुरवाडे, साई देशमुख
कांस्यपदक विजेते: शिवराज देशमुख, जयेश पाटील, संकेत पाटील, प्रणय बावस्कर, ईश्म देशमुख (2), संकेत परदेशी, रोशन नरोटे, सार्थक गायकवाड, रोनक टेलर, हुंविष्क सुरवाडे
स्पर्धेत संदीप बोरसे, अनिकेत भवर, प्रशांत आढाव व ईश्म देशमुख यांनी राष्ट्रीय पंच म्हणून काम पाहिले, तर दुष्यंतराजे देशमुख यांनी प्रशिक्षक व संघव्यवस्थापक म्हणून जबाबदारी सांभाळली.
महाराष्ट्र संघाच्या या यशाबद्दल खेळाडू, प्रशिक्षक, पंच आणि संघ व्यवस्थापनाचे सर्व स्तरांतून अभिनंदन करण्यात आले.
Maharashtra Shines at National Grappling Championship with 24 Medals
Nashik: Maharashtra delivered an impressive performance at the 19th National Grappling Championship 2026, held in Guwahati, Assam, from May 29 to 31, winning a total of 24 medals — 5 Gold, 8 Silver, and 11 Bronze — and securing 4th place overall.
The championship witnessed participation from 567 athletes representing 24 states across India. A 17-member team represented Maharashtra under the banner of the Grappling Association of Maharashtra, guided by President Archana Deshmukh and Secretary Santosh Deshmukh.
Gold Medalists: Umesh Subhash Patil, Mrunalini Arun Khedkar (2 Gold), Sanskruti Dattatray Ghuge (2 Gold)
Silver Medalists: Priyadarshini Abhay Patil, Kunjika Dattatray Guruba, Ronak Vishnukant Tailor, Sanket Kiran Pardeshi, Umesh Subhash Patil, Sarthak Deepak Gaikwad, Hunvishk Dinkar Surwade, Sai Sanjay Deshmukh
Bronze Medalists: Shivraj Dushyantaraje Deshmukh, Jayesh Dattatray Patil, Sanket Sambhaji Patil, Pranay Sanjay Bawaskar, Ishma Santosh Deshmukh (2 Bronze), Sanket Kiran Pardeshi, Roshan Sairam Narote, Sarthak Deepak Gaikwad, Ronak Tailor, Hunvishk Dinkar Surwade
During the championship, Sandeep Borse, Aniket Bhavar, Prashant Aadhav, and Ishma Deshmukh served as National Referees, while Dushyantaraje Deshmukh successfully led the team as Coach and Team Manager.
The outstanding achievement reflects the growing standard of grappling in Maharashtra and has been widely appreciated by officials, athletes, coaches, and supporters across the state.
2nd WEST ZONE GRAPPLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

Maharashtra Clinches Team Championship at West Zone Grappling Championship
Daman: Maharashtra delivered an outstanding performance to secure the overall team championship title at the 2nd West Zone Grappling Championship, while Rajasthan finished as runners-up and the team from Diu, Daman & Dadra Nagar Haveli claimed third place.
The championship was held from April 24 to 26 at Dunes Club, Daman. The event was organized by the West Zone India Grappling Committee in association with the Grappling Association of Diu, Daman & Dadra Nagar Haveli, and was officially recognized by the Grappling Federation of India.
A total of approximately 137 athletes from seven states — Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Diu-Daman-Dadra Nagar Haveli — participated in the tournament. Competitions were conducted across Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Veteran categories for both boys and girls in multiple weight divisions under GI and No-GI formats.
The Opening ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including Kalpesh Patel, President of the Diu-Daman-Dadra Nagar Haveli Olympic Association; Philia Thomas, Secretary; Alexander Thomas, President of the Taekwondo Association; Santosh Deshmukh, Technical Director of the Grappling Federation of India; Archana Deshmukh, President of the Grappling Association of Maharashtra; Technical Director Sandeep Borse; National Referee Aniket Bhawar; Ishma Deshmukh; and Rajasthan officials Pradeep Verma, Vivek Upadhye, and Shiva Kapse.
Top-performing athletes from this championship have been selected to represent their respective states at the upcoming 19th GFI National Grappling Championship, scheduled to be held from May 29 to 31 in Guwahati, Assam.
